CREATIVITY

When you open up the Bible and discover God for the first time, what do you find? Surprisingly, you won't immediately discover that He is loving, holy, just, kind or gentle. The very first thing you discover in the first sentence, Genesis 1:1, is that He is creative. He is the Creator. It's fascinating to me that God reveals that He is a creative person first.

Which brings me to another observation...if we are created in His image, then we should be creative people. We should be in the creative process. To be like God is to be holy, loving, joyous, and CREATIVE. We don't often hear this sermon. We don't emphasize this in the church. I have mulled this over in my mind for some time. If I am to glorify God by being like Him then I should be a creative person. I have the capacity for creativity because I am made in His image. I have, as a Christian, the dynamic in me in the person of the Holy Spirit. The church has the same characteristics.

My conclusion from this is that the church should be the most creative force in the world. This would glorify our Father in heaven.

I think this creativity that chris is refering to really comes out in his Ministry and his messages. I will call it Creative Compasion. Because he has such a love for the people he is ministering to he goes to great lengths to ensure his message and methods are reflecting God's creativity.

The message brought on Sunday 10/21/07 will go down as one of my favorites. It tackled an issue I struggle in explaining to non-believers and more importantly how many in today's church deliver it. Chris' delivery was creative in the fact the it had true compasion for those caught up in this delima and did not alienate them from the body of Christ.

Be creative. Be a blessing. <><

I totally agree with rev kev. Since this concept of creativity has surfaced on my radar, I have realized that I'm more creative than I thought. Actually I would have been the person that says, I'm not creative at all. I don't write songs or poems, I don't have beautiful words I use in my prayers, in fact as of a couple of weeks ago I would say that I had little or no creativity. Then as we moved through the teaching on our creativness, I began to see myself easing up out of the murky waters of no-creativness. Confidence harnessed in the right way can be liberating. As I continue to learn more about the creative process I can experiment with not just touching the waters of creativity with my toe, but go ahead and step in and take a chance. Thanks for helping an old guy feel alittle younger.
