I have entitled this blog "The Glory Principle". It comes from the idea that everyone is in the pursuit of glory. There is no action or reaction that is not rooted in the promise and expectation of some measure of glory. Simply stated, the glory principle is the idea that everything I do, say and think is for glory of Christ.
The idea and vision for this principle is rooted in 1 Corinthians 10:31. This is my favorite verse in all of the Bible. Paul writes these words to the church at Corinth: "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." I want to live this out daily. But often find myself living it out this way "so whether I eat or drink or whatever I do, I do it all for the glory of self." I know as the Pastor of a church I am not supposed to say that, but it is true and I hate it.
This blog is going to be about me living out the "The Glory Principle". Specifically, it is going to be about my journey in learning to glorify God in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am learning that to glorify God involves both the mundane and the special works of life. If I glorify Him in the mundane (eating/drinking), I will most likely glorify Him in the special. They both matter to God.

Chris you are going to a place that few have gone if any. Or let me say that I have not gotten there. To glorify my God or to even understand His glory is a tall task. I would need to be aware of my creator continually. I remember the apostle Paul said he did the things he didn't want to do and vice versa. Can I get to that place where I understand the glory of God? I remember John Wesley said that we are to strive for perfection. Not that we would acheive it but we would progress towards it. I have alot to learn about His glory. AS I prepare for this revival God keeps laying Matt. 6:33 on my heart. Actually only the first part. "But seek first the Kingdom of God". Can I even get to His righteousness? The verse indicates that we seek the kingdom and the righteousness of our Father. I wonder can I do both? Maybe the kingdom and the righteousness are the same? I tend to lean more that they are both independent. If that is the case I have a lot more work to do. Not to mention I would love to get to "and all these things shall be added to me"!!! I have to say that only by His grace do I get anything added to me from God. I strive to the perfection of seeking His kingdom and righteousness and Glory. Thanks for helping me seek the deep things of God. Perhaps it will take the understanding of us all to understand His Glory. Good Job

It is amazing how God can inspire by way of a new imac. Just kidding. In all seriousness I am excited to read some honest thoughts on faith and the pursuit of giving glory to Christ. Not that it really matters but Jennifer and I will be checking regularly to see what you are living and learning. We look forward to what God is going to allow you to experience and share with us. See you Wednesday.
I think your path is a "Glorious" one, no pun intended. I look forward to learning from you and getting lost in the Word and to truly understand and feel what Loving the Father above all else first feels like.
James,
I agree with you that we cannot understand the glory of God fully. He would cease being God if we did. But what we can do and what I am seeking to do (and you are too) is to truly know the glory of God. It's sorta like going to the beach. I truly know the greatness of the ocean, but I don't fully know it. There is a great mystery to it. But I have seen it. The beholding of it and the swimming in it have allowed me to know it.
The Apostle John (1:14b) put it this way..."We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
Therefore, anyone of us who has seen Christ has seen the glory of God. We can truly know the glory of God on earth. We can grown in that knowledge because God is deeper and wider than the any ocean. Jesus said (JN 14:9), "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." The glory of God is truly seen in Jesus even though it was not fully seen for it was veiled in flesh.
So, I think you are right. We have seen His glory and there is much more to dive into. That's why we must keep our diving gear handy.
